November 26, 2019 Police Commission Meeting

Rondout Municipal Center

2:32 p.m. Meeting called to Order

Pledge of Allegiance: Supervisor Walsh

PRESENT: Supervisor Walsh, Commissioner Hafner, Commissioner Stenta, Chief Perry Soule, Deputy Chief Scott Schaffrick

Supervisor Walsh made a motion to approve the minutes from October 22, 2019, 2nd by Commissioner Stena. Roll Vote: 3 Yes

Chief Soule:

Chief received an Event Application through the Town Clerk’s Office from Michael Brown and Justin Brown for an event called “845 Vibration” for September 18, 19, and 20, 2020 to be held at the Stone Mountain Farm/Center for Symbolic Studies. The Chief will review the application.

Chief had a printout of the Budget for 2019 showing police fees, grants, and income and expenses and a printout showing the Police Department’s personnel, equipment and expenses accounts.

Chief stated that there have been over 4,000 incidents.

Police Department had a staff meeting on November 13, 2019 where members of the Ulster County District Attorney’s Office and County Attorney’s Office attended. They reviewed the Raise the Age Legislation, bail reform and discovery laws that are new starting January, 2020. Chief Soule briefly reviewed same.

New Business:

Halloween – Tillson Estates was very busy although it was raining. Chief is concerned about the safety of the amount of people in Tillson Estates and on Maple Avenue. Chief would like to have a meeting with a few of the residents to discuss the roadway and safety of the residents and people attending.

PickleFest – The weather was wet and raining and people did not park off-site. It’s a family friendly event and the Pickle Fest Committee needs to review vendor applications who want tables at festival.

Chief met with Dorene Whittaker, Safety Officer to go over camera at the Recreation Center to cover the entrance/exit, parking lot and pool. Town is looking into possible grant money for it.

Chief Soule picked up his new vehicle.

Supervisor Walsh stated that the Town is going to give “Pride of Rosendale” certificate to Officer James Algarin for his saving a baby for choking.

Supervisor Walsh stated that the December 24, 2019 Police Commission meeting has been cancelled.

Supervisor Walsh made a motion to adjourn at 3:26 p.m, 2nd by Commissioner Hafner. Roll Vote: 3 Yes
