July 23, 2019 Police Commission Meeting

Rondout Municipal Center

2:34 p.m. Meeting called to Order

Pledge of Allegiance: Commissioner Stenta

PRESENT: Commissioner Stenta, Commissioner Hafner, Chief Soule, Deputy Chief Schaffrick

ABSENT: Supervisor Walsh

Chief Soule:

– Ulster County STOP DWI reduced their funding across the county by 20%. Rosendale PD will receive $4,000.00 for the year 2020.

– NYS Governor’s Traffic Safety has awarded the Rosendale PD $2,660.00 for its seat belt and enforcement programs.

– Street Festival attendance was low this year – the heat, wires down and power outages on Main Street for a few hours. Chief Soule used his motorhome as a Command post for the PD. There were no issues this year.

– Chief was approached by Mobile Life/EMS and they would like to move into a space in the Rondout Municipal Center. It would make it easier/quicker to get to all areas of the Town. Chief will let Supervisor Walsh know.

– Chief Soule had a copy of Adult Arrest Charge Summary report from January 1, 2019 to July, 10, 2019 which shows how many and what types of arrests have been made and a printout of the Daily Incident Log for the Street Festival dates 7/20/2019 and 7/21/2019.

– HITS Triathlon was held on 7/13/2019 and the PD sent out a bill for $2,160.00.

– Street Festival on 7/20/2019 and 7/21/2019 – the Chief is going to send a billing statement to them.

– Chief received the 2020 Budget request.

– Police Officer Adam Montfort is now working the Temporary Full-Time Position until the end of September. Chief would like to have another one from October to December.

– Chief stated that all police vehicles were okay for now. Vehicle 365 was at Jake’s being fixed.

– Chief was going to check about a carport for police vehicles. They had one at old station on Maple Hill which kept the cars out of the weather.

– Deputy Chief had received generators last year. They are not going to be used and will try to give them back or to get rid of them, or have other departments use them.

Commissioner Stenta made a motion to approve the minutes from June 25, 2019, 2nd by Commissioner Hafner. Roll Vote: 2 Yes; Opposed: 0; Abstentions: 0; Absent: Supervisor Walsh.

Commissioner Stenta made a motion to adjourn at 3:10 p.m., 2nd by Commissioner Hafner. Roll Vote: 2 Yes, Opposed: 0; Abstentions: 0; Absent: Supervisor Walsh.
