Wallkill Valley Rail Trail Construction Update August 29, 2022

We are excited to share that the repairs to the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail at Breezy Hill Road and Binnewater Road will begin Tuesday, August 30. 

 

Expect large machinery through the rest of that week in that area.

The plan is to stabilize the open drainage area to the east of the Rail Trail (where the culvert was located) and install the sub base and top-course to fill in the rail bed which was washed out this past spring.

Once this is complete, the Rail Trail will be open back up but will still need the final stone dust application, and this final step will occur sometime this fall.

Thus, once reopened, the surface will be rough for a short time.

Please respect the construction vehicles and staff, and do not try to use the Rail Trail in this area until the initial repair is completed. Please share this information with your patrons and others as needed.
