Rosendale Water and Sewer Commissioners Monthly Meeting
September 26, 2005
Commissioners: Ernie Kelder, Ernie Dewitt, Joe Roddy
Others: Superintendent, Terry Johnson
Meeting Called to order at 7:10pm on a motion from Joe Roddy. Motion seconded by Ernie Kelder.
Minutes from August, 2005 were accepted with the exception of adjournment time of 7:05pm, this was the same time listed as meeting starting. Need to have that changed to amend minutes.
A motion was made to accept minutes by Ernie Kelder, seconded by Ernie Dewitt.
Storage tank bid: I (Terry) informed the commissioners that the bid for rehabilitation on storage tank was rejected. Ernie Dewitt, said that the original proposal to build the Mountain Road storage tank was for the tank to be large enough to supply water for high pressure zone as well as provide sufficient storage capacity in the event that work needed to be done on the Sand Hill water tank. He stated, that due to opposition to the project, the size of the tank was down sized to the point where this tank would not be of any use in repairs to the Sand Hill tank. Other Commissioners agreed. I told the commissioner that the bid package would be redone to include a temporary storage tank so that work could commence on the project.
Joe Roddy wanted to know if there were other alternatives to a temporary tank of 150,000 gallons. I told him that I would wait to hear back from engineer for his recommendations and bring them back to board.
Budget proposal: I told the commissioner that I submitted a tentative budget to the Town Clerk.
I informed the commissioners that the increase for the Sewer district was 6.3% and Water district budget increase was 4.1%. Joe Roddy asked if the commissioner would receive a copy of the budget by line items. I told him that I would have it for them at the October meeting.
I also let the commissioners know that October 3rd at 6pm would be the date for department heads to meet with the Town Board on budget requests.
I informed the board that there would be no increase in Sludge hauling fees by the UCRRA this year. The cost would remain at $85.00 per/ton.
Filter Plant work: I told the commissioners that the bid to replace galvanized piping on 3 filter train has been awarded to JH Miller Plumbing and Heating of Rosendale, for the sum of $8,900.
Work will begin on this project in a few weeks. Money for this work was taken from the Water District Capital Reserve fund.
Snyder Mine: I told the board that I took a tour of the property with a representative of the Town insurance company. During this tour, I was informed that there were two options presented from the insurance company point of view, on how to deal with the liability of the open kilns on the property. One option would be to take the kilns down and grade off the hillside. Next option would be to fill in the open kilns and to fence off the top.
The Commissioners were in unanimous agreement that the kilns need to be taken down. They asked that I inform the Town Supervisor of this decision. I told them that I would do just that.
Sign for Sewer Plant: I asked the commissioners if I could get prices on a sign for the Sewer Plant. I informed them that there has never been a sign on the property. The commissioner agreed that there was a need to have a sign and to get prices on one.
Vouchers were presented for approval of payment.
Meeting was adjourned at 7:35pm on a motion by Joe Roddy and seconded by Ernie Dewitt.
The next meeting is scheduled for October 23, 2005 at the Rosendale Community Center
