Rosendale Water and Sewer Commissioners Monthly Meeting

August 22, 2005

Commissioners: Harriet VanKleeck, Ernie Kelder, Carol St. Rose

Others: Terry Johnson

Meeting called to order at 7:05 p.m. on a motion by Harriet. Motion seconded by Ernie.

Prior to accepting the July minutes, Terry stated that the Cell tower proposal that was given at the Town Board meeting this month was not from Sprint Communication, but by Verizon. A motion was then made by Harriet to accept the July minutes and the motion was seconded by Ernie.

Storage tank public hearing: Terry stated to the Commission that a public hearing will be held September 7, 2005, to bond for the painting of the Sand Hill storage tank. A short discussion followed.

Cell Tower: Terry informed the Commission that another Cell company will be giving a presentation to the Town Board on September 7, about putting a cell tower on the water department property. Ernie asked if other companies will want to do the same. Terry explained that the way Verizon proposed it to the Town Board was they would like to build an eighty foot tower, which will look like a pine tree. An eighty foot tower will only hold one carrier and the water dept. could receive up to $2,000 a month. If the tower were to be extended to one hundred feet which will be just above the tree line, three carriers could be put on it. Each carrier would pay up to $2,000 a month. Verizon does not really care about the other companies; they just want their tower there, but it is up to the Town. Harriet said she heard there would be a generator. Terry said, yes, all cell towers do. Harriet stated, so are we going to have people complaining about the noise. Terry said that a lot of questions come up on that subject and Verizon stated that the generator is only tested once a week. He also mentioned at the meeting that the water dept has three generators and they test them once a week. He is pretty sure that Verizon would test the generator at a time when people are up and would not notice the noise. A short discussion followed.

License Status of Joe and Roy: Terry stated that Joe or Roy will not get their sewer license for at least another year. Roy does not have his required time in and Joe did not pass the sewer test. Joe will not be able to take the test until next August. Harriet said, so you will not get any vacation? Terry said, not for another year. Harriet stated, Oh well. Ernie stated to Terry that he needs to get someone to cover for him, so he can take vacation. He thinks that Joe and Roy are capable of handling the plant. Terry said yes, they can run the plant, but if something happens, like a water main breaking; they would not know what to do. A short discussion followed.

Bids for Filter Plant: Terry informed the Commission that he did get two bids for the pipe work that needs to be done at the Filter plant and the bid amount is only good for thirty days. He would like to get one more because one of the bids is just too high. When he gets the other bid he will have Theresa either call you or sent it in the mail.

Letter to Planning Board Chairman: Terry stated to the Commission that he sent a letter to Billy Liggan, chairman for the Planning Board. The letter stated that if a project comes before his Board that will affect the Water and Sewer district, to please notify him because the district does have limited resources left to offer. He would like to make sure there is sufficient capacity for their current customers as well as future ones.

Purchase Orders Request Sheet: Terry and the Commissioners reviewed the purchase order request sheet. All purchase orders were approved.

Vouchers were submitted for approval of payment.

Meeting was adjourned at 7:30 p.m. on a motion by Ernie. Motion was seconded by Carol.

The next meeting is scheduled for September 26, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. at the Rosendale Recreation Center, 1055 Rte 32.

Respectfully Submitted
