Rosendale Water and Sewer Commissioners Monthly Meeting

July 25, 2005

Commissioners: Carol St. Rose, Ernie DeWItt, Harriet VanKleeck, Joseph Roddy

Others: Terry Johnson

Meeting called to order at 7:15 p.m. on a motion by Harriet. Motion seconded by Ernie.

A motion by Harriet to accept the June minutes, motion was seconded by Ernie.

Gunks Climbers Coalition: Harriet stated that all of the members of this Commission are against the Gunks Climbers using the Mountain Road Watershed property for boulder climbing. A short discussion followed.

Storage Tank Bids: Superintendent Terry Johnson informed the Commissioners that the bids for the storage tank on Sand Hill came back. They received a bid from one company. The bid asked for prices for two plans; Plan A and Plan B. The price quoted for Plan A, which includes removal of old interior coating; replacing with new and encapsulate lead paint on the exterior of tank. The cost would be $104,300.00. Plan B which includes removal of old interior coating; replacing with new, and removal of lead paint on the exterior of tank; replacing with a new coating. The cost would be $165,500.00. A short discussion followed. All commissioners present agreed to Plan B for the storage tank.

Cell Tower Proposal: Terry stated to the Commission that a woman from Sprint Communications called to ask if the water department would be interested in putting cell towers on top of the Sand Hill and the Mountain Road storage tanks. Sprint will be sending him information on this matter, which he has not yet received. The preliminary numbers that are coming back from Sprint they are talking upward of $50,000 to $60,000 a year for the water district. A short discussion followed. Terry stated that when he does get the information from Sprint that he will make copies for this Board.

Filter Plant: Terry informed the Commissioners that when the filter plant was built it should have had some kind of dehumidifier installed in the building, because in the summer months it practically rains in the building. What’s happening now is all of the piping which is 2" galvanized piping is so corroded at the joints that one day he is going to walk in there and see water flying all over the place because something broke. The piping has to be replaced on three of the four trains, so what he would like to do is get at least three price quotes to see what it would cost to have the work done. What he would also like to do at the next meeting is to bring this Board up there and actually show you what is happening. A short discussion followed. The Commissioners agreed with Terry.

Purchase order request sheet: Terry and the Commissioners reviewed the purchase order request sheet. All purchase orders were approved.

Meeting adjourned at 8:00 p.m. on a motion by Joe. Motion was seconded by Ernie.

The next meeting is scheduled for August 22, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. at the Rosendale Recreation Center, 1055 Rte 32.

Respectfully Submitted
