This is the pictorial of the rebuilding of the new Recreation/Community Center....
You will find it goes from the most recent progress and as you scroll down you will see it's beginning.
Plants and flowers are now being put in by Cheryl Alloway, landscape designer and the Women's Club of Rosendale, who we all know are experts in "curbside enhancement"
A wonderful assortment of Live Forever's, grasses, butterfly plants, lilies and more colorful adornment is being added to welcome you at the Grand Opening. They are perennials that will keep growing and spreading their beauty for years to come. All the gardeners are volunteering their time on this, and the plants are being purchased with monies from the Small City Grant acquired by Councilman Patrick McDonough, last year. It will also be used for sidewalks around the building and shrubbery.
These pics were taken on June 27th and the grass is growing beneath the straw at the new Recreation Center and our project manager and his assistant were tending to some last minute kitchen details.

Here are Bill Brooks, Ray Lukas & Scottie Bey checking out some kitchen shelving

After a long day at work, for both Ray Lukas and Scott Bey, they still tend to some last minute details....these men are amazing with all the hours that they have put in as volunteers on this project...even after holding full-time jobs. We should all be thankful for community residents such as these two devoted men.

While on a visit with his mom, Laurie and dad, Carl Hornbeck...Michael Hornbeck posed by the Town Board dais. Do we have a future politician here?

Scottie Bey waves from the Town Board dais which will soon be the seating and scene where our workshops and Town Board meetings will take place

Remember these two beautiful antiques from the old Recreation Center? Hopefully there will be a use for them in the new center, as they are not only 70-80 years old, but quite reminiscent of the good ol' days in our former Recreation Center. (top pic-sideboard; bottom pic buffet)

Here is the Recreation Center as of this morning June 18, 2003. Soon the landscaping will give accenting greenery and color to this beautiful facade

Here is the new front room for the Nutrition Center and other events...the ceiling was just completed, the rug is soon to be in (see close-up of rug below)

This angle shows the oak kitchen door and you can see the portable wall that will be able to divide the front from the second and third sections of the main room

This is the rug for the interior of the Recreation Center. However, in the entrance and main foyer are specially formulated carpets for moisture absorbency and safety and designed to keep the interior, more formal carpeting looking beautiful, fresh and new for a longer time period. The rug compliments both the exterior navy and tan and the interior beiges and sages.
KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR A PICTURE WITHIN THE NEXT FEW DAYS OF THE DANCE FLOOR WITH IT'S COLORFUL PATTERN THAT WILL HAVE EVERYONE UP AND DANCING FOR SURE!

Here is the front of the Recreation Center complete with the shutters and window mullions (panes)

Here is a wide shot of the front

The next picture is to show you how the mullions look on the top panes of the windows in the coat room and telephone area

Here is an updated picture of the bathroom with the sage and beige contrasts.....and there are diaper changing pull-downs in both the ladies and the men's room!

Notice the gorgeous oak doors and the contrasting sage green moldings, plenty of storage, which we needed.

Look at the sage green contrasting wall next to oak wood kitchen door and the beige wall

As you walk into the front foyer, there's a contrasting sage wall which will, possibly, host a fine piece of art or some accenting interior decor someday soon. At the bottom third of the wall are two drinking fountains, on each side of this wall are the ladies' and men's rooms.

Here are the updates as of May 20, 2003 .....keep looking as the finishing touches make this a place for all of us to be quite proud to have in our township....
Let us start with the new double door entrance into a foyer. The columns will be painted an ecru to compliment the building color.

Now we will proceed inside to the coat closet area.... where a payphone and the bathrooms will be accessible at certain times, yet no entry into the main building will be possible. There will also be a water fountain. This area will be open when outdoor activities decide the necessity of it's convenience to the public.
Below are sneak peeks of the bathroom tiles and walls. Note the colors are a pale off white wall area and sage greens. The floor tiles are a subtly pebble-finished beige with occasional sage green accents every couple of feet.

Just note that the picture color has a pink shade and it is a beige

Below is the men's room...once more, please note that the green is more of a soothing sage green and the photo does not give a true hue do to the present lighting conditions.

Such soothing beiges and sages will be throughout the building with accenting walls and a wonderfully accenting rug plus lots of rich oak doors, as below.....

The doors are all a rich medium oak color that will blend with the subtle tones of the sages, beiges and portray the subtle elegance of this new community center.

These are the double, full pane safety doors with a little "mud room" area in between. This will have a special carpeting that will absorb dirt and liquids off our visitor's shoes to protect the beauty of the interior flooring. Less maintenance and "newness" longevity.

There are many alcoves and areas that will be for seating, displays etc. This is just one of them.

this is the bright and sunny small conference room which will be a multi-purpose room for many needs. This is down the main hall towards the back of the building. The window in the rear faces the Youth Center, just to give you some vantage points of where some of the areas are situated within the expanse of this building.

This is one part of the kitchen, sans the appliances. The floors are a great terracotta-style tile with a tile wall molding.

A bit dusty from the grout, try to use your imagination and realize what a great accent to the kitchen the rich terracotta toned tile will be, not to mention easy maintenance and long lasting.

And if we didn't have enough storage before, we have an abundance of these closet areas throughout the building now!

This is the wall that the Town Board will use as a backdrop for their seating area, as this faces the residents as they walk into the meeting area. Time to use your imagination again, this will be an accenting shade of subtle sage green which will present itself well as a meeting showcase for town officials and other Committees and Commission officials.
This is what the Rec Center looked like as of May 1, 2003

This was taken from the front of the main rooms looking towards the rear of the building. This large area will be either one large room for big events or will be able to be divided with a folding wall.

You can see the vast amount of work being done, the right picture shows the hallway which will come off the entry way and lead you to the main rooms. There are also two large bathrooms, a coat room, a foyer room, the kitchen, a meeting and all purpose room and lots and lots of storage areas.

These pictures were taken on April 26, 2003. The interior ductwork is also in, the Geothermal wells are being drilled and some of the interior walls are also up and it is looking more like a "real" palace day by day.

Next is the front, sans the shutters which will make a great crowning touch on the paned windows and give a nice country feel:

The brickwork at the base of the building appears to be red in the photo, in actuality, it is a sandy brown. A landscaping of low lying flowering evergreens and some perennials will give the "curb appeal" to top off the look of the front.
Here is a picture of the Recreation Center's flooring being removed by our Highway Supervisor, Carl Hornbeck, who saved the town some money by borrowing a backhoe from the County in exchange for future help from the town on something THEY need. The materials from the Recreation center have been dismantled by the Highway Dept. and each piece has been numbered to be recycled to save the town in excess of $150,000 for a new garage at the Highway Department. Many suggestions of this recycling had been presented to the town administration and the present Town Board agreed and decided that this would be an excellent idea to save the town a great deal of money.
